Carissa began her yoga practice in 1999 as a means to cope with repetitive injuries sustained from long distance running and high intensity exercise. She quickly fell in love with Vinyasa yoga and its ability to cultivate strength, endurance, flexibility, balance and focus. As a certified group exercise instructor, her desire to teach yoga was a natural progression. She attended her first yoga teacher certification course in 2001 and went on to obtain her 200 RYT through YogaFit Training Systems Worldwide, Inc. She is also a licensed massage therapist with a focus on Shiatsu massage and holds a Master’s degree in Sport Psychology.
